Time For Change: Are Changes to SAP Happening Once a Week, Month or Quarter??
October 27, 2009
By Selva Kumar, Vice President- SAP Practice

When I was a consultant at a Fortune 500 company, they were talking about moving changes into SAP only once a quarter. They were saying that some companies were able to do this. In order to do this, I  would think the system has to be very stable. Of course it is not going to be immediate but gradually they want to get there in one year. There will be emergency process for moving changes which are business critical but all other change will only be moved in a particular time window.  All the clients I have worked till now moved changes every week and with some exceptions.  The normal process will be to generate a change control request, explain the changes and resources required for making the changes.  Once the change request is approved in change control board then the change will be made and tested.  All the approved change for that week will be moved to production.  I will be interested in knowing what other companies are following: weekly, monthly, or quarterly??
